Positives and negatives from a worksite inspection

VanguardSTC recently carried out a workplace safety inspection at a local manufacturing company in Plymouth. Using our 87 point inspection format the following areas were covered:

  • Housekeeping
  • Fire Safety
  • General Equipment
  • General Area
  • First Aid Facilities
  • Portable Hand Tools
  • Portable Power Tools
  • Workshop Machinery & Plant
  • Personal Protective Equipment

The inspection observed some aspects which needed to be addressed within a timescale set by the management, and to their credit this was acted on straight away.

A worksite inspection is not only for finding the negatives with regard to health and safety but also the positives, of which there were many. It’s important to highlight these also. It can be an important tool to help you comply with the requirements of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, which places a responsibility on the company to provide sufficient workplace monitoring.
